Nic Bishop Spiders

Nic Bishop

Scholastic, 2007

Some people have strong feelings about spiders. If you have strong feelings of the negative kind, you probably don’t want to come anywhere near this book. But if you are a spider lover (and I know I am not the only one), you’ve got to read this book.

Nic Bishop is a biologist, photographer, and writer, who specializes in books about small animals. His books have amazing close-up photographs of his subjects. Spiders up close are astonishingly beautiful (or monstrously horrible, depending on your point of view). Either way, they are fascinating.

In addition to the photos, Bishop also gives plenty of intriguing information about spiders. For example, did you know that spiders can taste things with their feet? Or that spiders recycle their silk (by eating it when they are done using it)?

Unless spiders really creep you out, take a look at this book. If you aren’t already a spider fancier, you may quickly become one.
